Changing Values: Doing Nothing isn't free

This will be a short post while I'm working on some interesting long form blog content (like Part 2 of "The Revolution). But in reviewing the white paper we're putting together a few things came to mind, but one recurring theme I think we all need to think about in this space. When we're talking about green renovation or really making any change to go greener our clients start from an inherently wrong assumption. They assume that if they do nothing at all...that's free. The cost of change is hard to quantify, but the cost of stasis is zero. That thinking is simply dead wrong. The whole concept reminds me of There Will Be Blood. Do nothing...and the competition will drink your milkshake.

Because we know that the cost of energy, water and land will rise over the coming years not diminish. So the cost of doing nothing is actually remarkably high. It would be like watching the computer age come to fruition and still using a typewriter. Sure the typerwriter was paid for a long time ago, but your competition has made tremendous effiecency gains. They're dipping their straw in your milkshake because you're scared of change? That's what happens when your competition is working out a net zero building-paying less for water and energy while you're still getting bilked? The cost of doing nothing is no longer zero...it's high and getting higher.

Build2Sustain is out to mitigate that cost. It's your milkshake...drink it up!
